A survey shows trends in the health sector that will likely rise in the new year 2019. The top three are exercise tracker, group sports, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

Quoting from the Washington Post on Tuesday (1/1/2019), the American College of Sports Medicine asked more than 2,038 fitness professionals working for commercial health centers, medical facilities, non-profit organizations, and corporations, to rank 39 possible fitness trends in 2019.

Fitness technology is predicted to rise again. In fact, in 2018 this kind of thing was ranked third. However, the survey published in the November-December issue of ACSM's Health & Fitness Journal ranked first on the trend.

"Products that can be worn, even low-end, are more accurate," said ACSM 2018-2018 President Walter R. Thompson.

"This helps explain why they returned to the top rankings."

In addition, the second rank shows that group sports will be increasingly prevalent in 2019. This is considered by the researchers as good results.

"Some outside psychologists might say millennials have access to all the technology in the world, but they still want to be part of a community," Thompson said. Visit link Shepaperie blog.

"Group training is the future," said the Managing Director of Balance Gym in the United States.

"It really fulfills the community aspect, but you also have instructors who motivate and push you harder."

HIIT
In third place, high intensity interval training or HIIT is predicted to become a trend in 2019.

This type of exercise generally only lasts 30 minutes or less and includes short and intense intervals that can push the body's level of effort up to 90 to 95 percent of the maximum heart rate.

"I think at first we are all afraid that HIIT will cause an increase in injury in the general public, but that hasn't been proven right," said Thompson, who is also dean and professor of kinesiology and health at Georgia State University, United States.

"There is no risk of injury more than other exercises," Thompson added.

Maier said, HIIT is a suitable sport to do in a group. This is because it is sometimes difficult to motivate yourself with a high level of energy.

"Nobody wants to do it themselves. It is more realistic to do it in class and have trainers who know what they are doing," Maier said.
